Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. Scoliosis often occurs during the growth spurt right before puberty. Here are some things you can do to prevent scoliosis:
- Get tested: Genetic tests can help to identify individuals who are more at risk for getting scoliosis and can then take preventative measures.
- Exercise and stretch regularly: Exercising and stretching regularly helps to improve your spine’s flexibility and strengthens your core’s muscles which helps to improve overall spine health.
- Maintain good posture: Poor posture is one of the things that progresses scoliosis. Practice good posture whenever you can whether it’s standing, walking, or sitting.
