One of the most common causes of back pain is poor posture. About 40% of Americans have poor posture and about 70% of Americans have said they have experienced back pain at least once. Here are some things that you can do to improve your posture:
- Pay attention to posture when walking or sitting: If you notice yourself slouching when you’re walking or sitting, try to improve your posture so your back is supported. When you slouch, pressure is put onto your spine and causes pain.
- Sit the right way: Keep both feet flat on the floor and distribute your weight evenly.
- Avoid carrying heavy bags: Carrying heavy backpacks or purses causes your back to slouch more when you’re walking. If you need a backpack or purse for something, take anything out of the bag that isn’t necessary to help lighten the load.
